I’m Charles Uffelman, and I’m running for City Council to fight for a city we can afford that works for working people.

In the fight for a better future for all Clarksvillians
On The Trail With Chas
Today we commemorate the surrender of Clarksville which was the beginning of liberation for many especially the Black Community after 8 months in the Confederacy and centuries slavery. Our city became a vital muster station for US Colored Troops who are honored at Ft. Defiance with a statue. #clarksville #clarksville #history #local #localhistory
You are invited to our house party this Sunday at 5pm hosted by my friends Cate and Tim! We build this campaign and our future together. I want to hear from you. You can RSVP at the link in my story. What do you want to see for the future of #clarksville #urbanism
Don’t let anyone tell you we can’t build affordable, walkable neighborhoods, ITS HOW CLARKSVILLE STARTED! Important meetings this weekend with Clarksville Strongtowns and the Montgomery County Historical Society drove this point home for me. There’s so many great people in this town working to preserve our history and build a better future for all of us. The best part from learning about Dog Hill is the hope it gives us for building neighborhoods like that again. The dream of having more affordable housing with sidewalks to amenities is already a reality that we can replicate. #clarksvilletn #clarksville #localgovernment #urbanism #strongtowns
I can’t stop thinking about you Clarksville/Ward 6. You deserve a city you can afford that works for working people. #happyvalentines
We are going to put working people first! The housing crisis is out of control and working people deserve a good home and a good life. I worked with downtown business owners to pass free two hour parking, but we can`t stop there. Downtown has to be a neighborhood that`s thriving for residents, tourists, and businesses. I`ll continue to fight for our public employees ensuring all of them have a living wage.
A campaign is not about any one person, it`s all of us working together for change. Like the older farmers would say: ROOT HOG OR DIE! 🐖☠️
The Clarkville Black History Month Committee is celebrating historically Black Churches that have been in operation for 100 years or more. There are 20 in Montgomery County! Black History Month, which is February, and our Black Churches are important movements for racial justice and community support. In the face of oppression and inequity we need it more than ever. Thank you to the committee, speakers, and perfomers for putting on a great service.
We did IT last night! We launched this campaign with a packed room that looked like Clarksville. Ward 6 was very well represented. This is a campaign that is breaking records, filling rooms, and building momentum. It’s going to take all of us to fight for a city we can afford, that works for working people. We are going to fight for affordable housing, for a thriving downtown, and for better neighborhoods.
THANK YOU!! All the support the last couple weeks has been moving. Our campaign has BIG plans in the months to come. I’m excited to get to work with y’all! ROOT HOG OR DIE!
Our Launch Party is tomorrow (Sunday) at @wickedgoodsandwiches at 6:00 PM! Come on by! If you can, bring some men’s clothes for the warming shelter. We are fighting for a city we can afford, that works for working people. Come early if you want to park on their plowed parking lot! Let’s get to work!
SCHOOLS OUT: @cmcssinfo will close schools for the rest of the week as road conditions across the county remain a challenge.
The @cityofclarksville Street Dept. put together a helpful map of snow routes. ORANGE are state roads and fall under the responsibility of @my_tdot. They are normally pretty fast. BLUE are the Major Roads and will be cleared by the city first. GREEN are Primary routes and will be cleared next. BLACK are routes that will be cleared after everything else. With forecasts ranging from several inches to a dozen and uncertainty around freezing rain and sleet know this is a fluid situation. Try to stay off the roads this weekend.
🚨 I’m so grateful and excited to be endorsed by my friend and fellow organizer @aftynbehn4tn in my race for Clarksville City Council Ward 6! 🚨
“From organizing my first event with Chas to save Houston County Hospital to working with him to make life more affordable for Clarksvillians by ending the grocery tax, making housing more affordable, and ensuring the VA is fully funded, Chas has always put his community first. I know he won’t be bought or sold by special interests and has the best interests of Clarksville at heart. I can’t wait to see what he accomplishes for Montgomery County.” – @aftynbehn4tn
Today I capped off #mlkday cooking dinner with the @mctndp including @ronniefor67 and @rashidahleverett for the clients staying at the Emergency Warming Shelter with @clarksvilleurbanministries. Housing justice is part of the dream, but there’s a mountain to climb to achieve that justice.
